New with my Nikon NPR 362

Hello everyone
I need your help. I am a student new with the total station. I just purchased my Nikon NPR 362, which I am not familiar yet with it and the onboard software. I need your help in connecting it to my PC and have them communicate or recognize each other. I am using Trimble Data Transfer free software and a Keyspan USB-RS232 port adapter. I have a simple AutoCAD 5 point file I would like to upload to my Nikon.
What are the Step by Step procedure on connecting them together and uploadi… Continue

Hey There Montano!
I'm attempting to get better educated in the GPS Systems. I have been involved in the Operating Engineers' training programs (Grade Check/Grade Engineer etc.) and have also attended Trimble's 'boot camp' re: machine control systems.
I'm presently completing my 'intermediate' AutoCAD class through UAF in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have personal experience in machine controls, including Topcon's Laser system also. I have been attending the UAF Mine Surveying Class which unfortunately has over 20 students in attendance. (It had been promoted as a student - instructor ratio of six to one, some had been informed seven to one).
KEY Point: I have the books from the class, So I'm attempting to locate someone who could assist me when I'm in a situation which 'stumps me'.
I'm 'Totally Aware' of the necessity of learning as much as possible to place myself in a better position to 'not get left behind' in this ever fast paced and growing GPS Arena.
Not only do we have 'current as well as ongoing new and existing roadwork and ice road location issues' here in Alaska but we also have pipeline and mine work.
Seems to me, it is critical to be 'On Top of our Game' here. Especially when much of our work location temperatures could reach 50F below zero.
Thanks for 'any' direction you could assist in.

Hi Montano. Work for Lone Star College-Montgomery in The Woodlands (Houston). We have a Land Surveying and Mapping Technology Program. We're developing an Educators Conference to teach high school math, geography teachers about the field. They'll get lesson plans and ideas to take back to their classrooms. Check it out at: http://www.tsps.org/Education/EducatorsRetreat09/edretreatreg.htm

Sorry Montano, best to try your closest dealer, even if they don't sell Nikon. Chat with Trimble on the data transfer. Good luck!
